M.A.D.M.E.N. Odometer-Where we went in April

The MADMEN did not rack up a lot of mileage but we still had a Bloody Awesome April.

The usual suspects showed up for MINIs and Munchkins at MINI of Tucson. The doughnuts probably do have something special in the frosting because new MINI owners were there with open checkbooks to join. They see us having fun and naturally want to be a part of our “family”. Welcome!

Munchies was a decidedly western affair at Cody’s Beef and Beans. Several of us were sporting cowboy boots and hats so we’d blend in. Our newest MADMAN, er girl, also arrived that same night and we are anxiously awaiting newborn Lily’s first outing with the group.

A few of us with new MINIs attended “Second Date” with our MINI at MINI of Tucson. This was an opportunity to talk with the mechanics with any questions we had on our cars- how do I find “Search” on the radio, how do I make the doors lock automatically at 5 mph, where is the oil dipstick? They also provided lunch (yay, more food) and gave away some gifts- t-shirts, a MINI beach towel, water bottles.

Last Saturday Breakfast was at Mays Counter where we had a record turnout of 43 MADMEN, 24 MINIs and 1 Corvette! One of those MINIs was Jesse’s (our chapter mechanic) recently acquired JCW.  Breakfast was just the beginning of our bloody awesome day as we motored the long and twisty route to MINI of Tucson for the Bloody Original Launch Event. We arrived enmasse for another day of visiting with our “family”, looking at MINIs, listening (and dancing) to the band, getting a massage, winning prizes and, oh yes, eating.  Thank you MINI of Tucson for another great event and being the hang out place.

Upcoming for May will be the first of our annual DMC meetings to be held May 4. We’ll start off at MINI of Tempe for Cars and Conversation then head to George and Dragon Pub for the meeting, lunch and celebration of the DMC’s 10th birthday.

My MINI Has the Munchies will be Thursday May 8 at Zemam’s, Ethiopian cuisine.

Last Saturday Breakfast will be at Little Anthony’s Diner.

Also Scheduled for the Memorial Day weekend Mini Mania is holding its 40th anniversary on Saturday May 31st at the 2014 Nevada City Adventure event in California. Several MADMEN are planning on attending.
