Unbelievable...
http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/ ... -grow.html

For those that went on this run, this is hard to imagine. To put it into context of memory, road is now closed at what was our turn-off for the pre-dinner run to the lake. "The Arizona Department of Transportation has also closed Arizona 260 in both directions from the Hawley Lake turnoff, east of Arizona 73, to Springerville."

And to quote a friend that works for the forest service now working the fires in that area, "They told him up by the big lake area, is just sticks, and he said there are dead elk everywhere, some deer, but mostly elk, and he said they were EVERYWHERE. The firefighters, who were local, said the mountain will never be recognizable in our lives, none alive now who has never seen it will ever be able to look on its beauty in their lifetime."

Great but such sad pics, thanks for posting. I've been getting a few from a friend up there that works for the forestry service too. At least a few people are able to go back home and they seem to be getting some containment.
