This will be our third time at the Tubac Collector Car Show - Sat., Jan 24, 2009. Always a fun time with lunch and a Winery visit thrown in after the show.

It's a little early for details, just reserve the date. You'll be glad you did!!!.

HELLOOOO MADMEN/SIERRA VISTA MINIS/RATPACK!!!!

Image
The Tubac Collector Car Show (Sat. January 24th) is just around the corner and your co-chairs are planning a full day of activities.

First, we meet up at 9:00 am next to the Home Depot on the SW corner of Irvington Rd and I-19 (Tucson). There is a Starbucks, Mickey D's and a Food City close by where you can get last minute provisions. Gas is available at the nearby Chevron.

Image
The parking area just to the left of the Chevron is where we meet.

We leave for Tubac around 9:16am - 9:18am and travel south on I-19 to Exit 40. We exit and turn left to get to the frontage road. Make a right turn on the frontage road. We go south about 2 miles and turn left into the Tubac Golf Resort. There will be plenty of signs to guide the directionally bewildered. (Yes, Marsha, we are taking a different exit this year.)

There is a small admission fee so bring some cash. It is usually cool in the morning so dress accordingly.

Our arrival time will put us at the show just after it opens so you should have plenty of time (1hr 45min) to see all 500+ antique, collector and modified cars/motorcylces and take a picture next to your dream car.

LUNCH
Tubac is a quaint town with many places to eat and unique little shops and art galleries to explore. You have the choice of eating with the group or striking off on your own. Just south of the old town on the frontage road is a new center with several great restaurants. All the places in old town have limited seating for groups and parking can be interesting, to say the least.

SOOOOOOOOOO............If you are interested in joining the MADMEN for lunch, please reply to this post with something like: "Party of 2 for lunch." Then, by the size of the group, we can pick a joint. No obligation. just want to get a feel for the numbers.

Run to the Wine Country

After lunch, we will cruise down to Nogales AZ, east on Hwy 82 to Patagonia, Sonoita and on to Elgin for a wine tasting at the Sonoita Vineyards. For those that want to skip the vineyard, you can turn north on Hwy 83 at the Sonoita crossroads.
Image

After sipping responsibly, we return up Hwy 83 to I-10 and complete our day. Total mileage about 150 miles. Let us know if you are going to join us for this memorable event!

Yeah, I've had some other DRP interest, so we'll pick a spot in the East Valley to meet-up and motor down from, as we get closer to the date.

It looks like we will make it this year. We have family with a house in Tubac, we will be driving down Friday night and staying the weekend.

It's not looking like we'll be able to make this run. Someone from the DRP want to offer to lead this meet-up and run down on Saturday morning?

In the past we've met at the Best Buy parking lot on the West side of I-10 and Ray or the Starbucks on 54th Street, just off Ray on the East side of I-10.

It's about 100 miles from I-10/Ray to the meet-up Home Depot in Tucson.
Map Link

To make the 9AM Meet-up you'll want to be on the road by 7:30AM from Chandler.
