Hey guys,

I am new to the thread and a new stick driver. This is my second mini, but my first stick shift. I have an 2005 Base MINI Cooper and seem to be having trouble getting into 3rd gear, seems to be "sticking" while shifting. I had no problem on my brothers 3 series just curious if anybody has any ideas.

Thanks,

Redding

a clutch issue?

Possibly, it doesn't seem to happen when I am shifting into 3rd rather slowly, it might just be a new manual driver error!

a syncro, part of a transmission that helps the gears change smoothly..
When you move lever it moves a fork which moves basically from one gear to another, a syncro is between those gears, it acts like a clutch and speeds up the next gear so that the shift wont grind or not happen..
it could also be a fluid issue or your just getting the "feel"..
do others have the problem if they try your car??
Clutch would be a problem in other gears to, not just 3rd
