We recently received an email from MINI NS offering to to extend the MINI Roadside Service plan that came with our new MINI for $99 for one year. (The plan that came with our MINI is about to expire.) The email from MINI NS specifically states that the service extension includes towing to the nearest MINI service center, same as the original service plan.

NOT TRUE! When you call the BMW/MINI contact number (not MINI NS) you are advised that the plan includes towing UP TO 100 MILES; not to the nearest MINI service. Customer service explained that the original roadside service plan and the extension are two entirely different insurance products.

Rather than pay the $99, you may be ahead by adding towing of your MINI to your current auto insurance policy. Ours stated that because the MINI is a "specialty car" it would be towed to the nearest MINI service facility. Annual cost is $6.
